Paralympic shooting hopeful Nathan Milgate came away with two medals from the Croatian Open event in Zagreb.

The 20-year-old continued his recent good form with silver in the R1 air rifle and bronze in the mixed R3 air rifle prone event.

He shot 578 out of 600 in the air rifle to finish second behind Athens silver medallist Franc Pinter of Slovenia.

He then matched his personal best of 599 out of 600 in the qualification round of the prone.

There were also good performances from newcomers Matthew Skelhon and James Bevis, who both shot the minimum qualification scores (MSQ) set by the IPC for the Paralympic Games on their GB debuts.

Skelhon was 10th in the R3 air rifle prone mixed while Bevis was 12th in the R5 air rifle prone mixed.

There was also a MQS for Chris Summerscales, who returned to the GB squad after a break of over a year.

Milgate's double medal haul follows his bronze medal at last month's Korea Open.

Rikki Singh, chairman of Disability Target Shooting GB said the performances were a positive sign for the squad.

"It's pleasing to see that we are once again amongst the medallists," he said.

"Nathan Milgate continues to impress and it's very encouraging to see some strong performances from the newer members of the squad, which bodes well for the future."
