James Bevis outgunned in top notch shooting qualifiers

Jimmy Bevis was 19th in the R5 10m air rifle prone (SH2) in a tight qualifying competition this morning in which three shooters hit a maximum 600 to share the world record.

The European bronze medallist last year, Bevis was disappointed not to have made the eight-man final.

But the 32-year-old Hereford technician can be satisfied in the knowledge that he was only six points behind Ji-Seok Lee and Ho-Gyoung You of Korea, and Viktoria Wedin of Sweden, who all achieved perfect scores.

Bevis shoots again in the R4 10m air rifle standing event on Thursday 11 September.
